There is a raw beauty in chaos: in the collision of opposing forces, the instability of the natural world and the light that emerges from darkness.

Chaos and Gold is an atmospheric original painting by Carla Raads, exploring the tension between turbulence and illumination. A luminous sky of ochre, antique gold and ivory breaks through a gathering of charcoal and slate grey, while fractured forms of white, silver and burnt orange surge across the composition. The landscape appears to shift and dissolve, caught in a moment of elemental upheaval.

Through expressive mark-making, layered colour and dynamic movement, Raads explores the emotional power of landscape. Light becomes an active force within the painting, cutting through darkness and illuminating fragments of a world in flux. Rather than depicting a place literally, she seeks to capture its atmosphere: the unpredictable energy of nature and the beauty that emerges from disorder.

Part of the Cartography collection, the work reflects an ongoing exploration of place, memory and emotional experience. Each painting considers how landscapes leave their imprint on us, translating the physical world into something more instinctive and deeply felt.

With its dramatic contrasts, rich golden tones and turbulent composition, Chaos and Gold brings intensity and depth to a contemporary interior. An original work for collectors drawn to expressive contemporary painting, atmospheric landscapes and the elemental relationship between light and darkness.
